“The occasion for ‘untitled (working title: the lamp rack)’ is a visit to an art fair under construction in Stockholm eight years ago. With the help of theatre technician Roland de Jong, Wouter Huis reconstructs a transport rack with a variety of theatre lamps.

The lamps in this transport rack are connected to a light panel controlled by a program consisting of a series of common modes in theatre performances. However, the rack has been taken out of context and the spotlights hang in storage mode. With this work, Huis emphasises the theatrical nature of the environment. The surroundings have been transformed into a backdrop for a performance. The lamp rack is placed in the lobby of the hotel under construction in the Maan Quarter.”
